This shirt is intended to have a Chinese feel. The design on the body fabric depicts Chinese lanterns denoting good luck and prosperity. The buttons are reminiscent of the toggle style buttons found in traditional Chinese shirts and jackets. The inspiration for this shirt was from all of the old Kung Fu Theater episodes I watched as a child. Every Sunday, starting in the morning and going into the afternoon, the USA Network would show two old Chinese Kung Fu movies from the 1960’s and 1970’s. These old films were dubbed over in heavily accented English. Besides the mouth movements not matching the dubbed English words, the traditional Chinese clothing featured in these movies was very memorable.

The name Guilin comes from the city of Guilin in southwest of China. This has to be one of the coolest places on the planet. The region around Guilin is where you will find the lime stone formations seen in so many traditional Chinese paintings. The city of Guilin is built among these formations. There are amazing pagodas and Buddhist temples built on the tops of these lime stone formations in and around the city. The next time you are in China, try to fit Guilin into your travel schedule.
